Domino's Delivers a New Pizza Box Design.

Branding agency Jones Knowles Ritchie has created a new box for Domino's based on it's red and blue domino tile logo.

(old and new logo)

q103albany.com wrote in 2012, "Domino’s Pizza is changing with the times and announced they are dropping the word Pizza from their name.  The stores are offering now much more that just pizza including pasta, salad, wings, chicken sandwiches, Parmesan bread, sodas and chocolate lava cake plus they are ready to unleash a new idea called Pizza Theater."

So, considering the new logo (the one on the right), Jones Knowles Ritchie did something brilliant and made a box resembling one or the other half of the logo.

You Won't Believe Why They Did This

It's actually pretty simple, really.  Jones Knowles Ritchie did some research and found out that 96% of the Domino's orders in the United Kingdom are for two pizzas due to a long running two-for-one specials. The box design is only for stores in the UK.

What’s going on with pizza boxes?

Think of the most mundane things in your life. The cardboard on the inside of a roll of toilet paper, the plain old Amazon.com box, or the box your pizza comes in. Nothing special. A pizza box enables the delivery guy to get it to your door with out destroying the pizza. Not much to it.  WRONG.

Meet Scott Wiener. Scott has collected more than 650 pizza boxes from 45 countries around the world. He knows quite a bit about them too. Some are super simple. Some have special heat detecting stickers and some are brilliant.
